How Does Reddit Detect Previously Banned Users?

I get banned every so often when I appear to offend the sensibilities of some Ritler (combination of a reddit admin and well known German dictator from the 30s and 40s)

Download the Brave browser here: https://brave.com/download/

Grab a temporary email address here: https://temp-mail.org/en/

Do not close the temp email address inbox until you have verified your account.

Set it on the highest settings that allow Reddit to still work on Brave, trial and error - the highest security settings do not work but disallowing finger printing is the big one that you likely need.

Do not cross the streams as in do not try and login from any other browser with that reddit username because they will be able to detect and link the old accounts regardless of your IP address.

I can access all old subreddits even the ones I was banned from no issues and no VPN required.

Also should note that I am logged in with my banned accounts (lots of history) on the same notebook and this was the same hardware I got banned on so you most certainly do not need to purchase new hardware to get around this. Brave does something that prevents Reddit from figuring out your accounts are linked.

Here are both accounts side by side on the same computer.

thanks for the advice. I was using Opera GX just coz it was the first thing that came to mind
btw, could u please tell me how to turn on that highest security on brave to avoid digital fingerprinting

Yeah, just use Brave browser, don't use the app, then you're good.

Don't use a VPN, you'll get shadow banned from the get go.

If you're making money on Reddit then paying for a VPN should be an expected and acceptable business expense.

If you're just there to rile people up or argue and share the truth, all of which lead to a ban, and you're doing that out of your own desires for entertainment and passion, and it's not worth you spending a few bucks a month for a paid VPN, then it's definitely not worth continuing to search the internet and thinking about how to evade a ban.

If it's not worth $3 a month, it's not worth the vast amount of mental headspace to keep thinking about it. This is what people mean by "living rent free in your head."
Nice... Which VPN can you get for $3/mth ?

New accounts.

Change the browser is most important or use Brave browser.
I use the Brave Browser --- great for security. I can also change my IP address. This is only accomplished by using a separate Modem and Router.

How does a Brave Browser 'Circumvent' Reddit ??

Thanks man !

1. Do not install the Reddit app its garbage anyway
2. If you use multiple devices tablet, phone, desktop, laptop, etc... logged out all your acccount.
3. Delete all your accounts but before you do download something similar to Tamper Monkey and use a userscript called "Spaz's Reddit Delete" or anything similar.
4. Use Brave browser that includes on your phone and tablet.
5. You can use VPN to register an account don't get off it stay active.

I use VPN on Brave Browser I'm only going to be using it from now on because Reddit is notorious on collecting data, they are collecting your data, reading your comments, and its best to always best to edit and delete your comments. And whatever you do don't even cross contaminate your Reddit accounts with another it will get notice and flag as multiple account, it means do not upvote your own account, comment on your account, each account must be registered on separate IP address and on devices if you have Reddit app uninstall, clear histories, clear cache, or better yet factory resets only use Brave Browser or Firefox.

Reddit will only hold your IP address for 100 days almost everyone here have dynamic IP address so if Reddit bans based on IP they will effectively ban everyone.

Hi, can someone tell me what exactly are the settings I need to enable in my brave browser to prevent reddit from identifying my identity?

And if I use a new device (say new laptop) + new IP + new account, why cant I go back to subreddits in which I was previously banned? Will they catch me based on my comment/post behaviour? is my behaviour the only way of getting banned again in this case? If I behave differently this time, can I use reddit fully back like I used to?

Also, how do you guys make so many new accounts in reddit? Do you make new gmail accounts and then use it to create reddit accounts? or some other way? If gmail accounts, then is it possible to create so many gmail accounts like that? don't they put a cooldown if you make so many?

You can use AdsPower browser to impersonate your device and replace it with another proxy, then you can use Reddit without worrying about being detected.

Hello, I am new to this forum. I got this forum from my banned reddit. My brother and I use Two different reddit under the same wifi. I think that is the reason for ban me. Is there any way to get back my reddit? I contacted on support but they said I use multiple accounts tha is why they think I am fake.

Huh, that’s weird. Reddit allows users to have multiple accounts. The app even lets you log into several at the same time. I guess it’s different if someone’s running hundreds of accounts, but I doubt that’s the case here.

I'm not sure if they allow this anymore... When was the last time you tried 2 different user ID's ?

Last month. They definitely still allow it.

You just can't upvote your own posts or manipulate the algorithm in any way.

People use throwaway accounts to post anonymously on Reddit all the time.

If you want to manipulate Reddit, just buy upvotes, instead of using multiple accounts.

I tried to add another USER and it wouldn't allow me.

I'm using the RES addon.

@Balkans on the official Reddit mobile app, you can natively switch between multiple accounts, and there is even an "Add Account" link. I just tested it, and it still works.

I have multiple reddit accounts linked together and it has never been a problem.

Yes, it only becomes a problem when one gets an administrative ban (not sub-reddit ban), because then it becomes ban evasion.

Oh, right. I forgot some people here might be dealing with Reddit bans. That’s probably why linking accounts would be a problem. I’ve never really had that issue myself. I've been on Reddit for over 10 years and only got banned from one subreddit, and even that was for something unrelated to anything I actually posted there. So yeah, linking accounts has never been a problem for me. Sorry about that.

Hey guys, I went out my way to create an account to post on this site:
I found the ''way'' to bypass Reddit bans without anything complicated. I've also helped a friend out and they been rocking their account for a few months now, no issues.
It's long and detailed but I guarantee you all it works, and no need to download ANYTHING or pay ANYTHING... Good old BASICS: TL DR at the end. But read all for starters.

I was perma banned 10 years ago roughly and, like you all, had to find ways to make new alts that would last longer then a week, let alone 24 hours.
I have my current account since mid 2024...

1. Reddit on the Phone app is useless, it's basically ''bricked'' no matter if you clear settings in your phone, delete/re-install app etc. Basically if you have been banned on your phone, tough luck.

Also wanted to say using a separate device to make alts seem to work, I mean think about it. If a student got banned in a dorm, imagine how many people would be getting banned being on Reddit on the same network. I also lived with my sister who is a huge Redditor and when I was getting banned she was just fine despite being on the exact same router/home... So it got me thinking and doing some serious research...

2. Mid/Late 2024 Reddit introduced a new account system in the background that makes it harder to make new alts off on a banned account. Hence the new strategy when making a new account is literally to ''warm up'' the account. Which I will get into detail later here, which is
hands-down the reason my account and my friend's is still alive almost a year later ever since the new the system was put into place...

3. No fancy VPNs (They usually don't work as Reddit detects that as a massive redflag, I mean think for a second if you were on the defending side, a VPN is literally the go to bypass bans, most people use it that way, they aren't stupid, you are).
Proxy networks instead of VPN seems to work, but again like I said, I never bothered to do so. Also most are paid subscriptions just like VPN's are. So that turned me off before I could even try that method,

4. No need to download other browser such as Brave, although if they work for some people, give it a try.
I use Microsoft Edge and always have, so go figure...

Ok let's get into the 3 SIMPLE steps that worked for me and my friend and most likely will for you if you aren't stupid and follow carefully. So here goes: Before I start quickly: PATIENCE is the theme here.

A
. So you just got banned today and are about to make a new account: Stop. Before I continue, the hardest part in all this is fighting the urge/addiction to get back on Reddit in the first place without respecting what I'm laying out... It will take 14 days before you will start to be able to comment again on your main subreddits if you want to be safe.

1. First of all figure out if your Router device changes IP address every week. (Modern IP's do).
Use Command Prompt on windows and type in ipconfig /all
Take a screenshot of that. Check back on Monday or in 7 days and do the exact same thing as above.
Compare results if your IP numbers has changed, if it, you're green to go, step 2... No fancy VPN/s or Built in Browser add-ons...

2. Like I said, I didn't download anything new, I used the same browser BUT...
Step 2 is going into Incognito on your browser= Ctrl+ N brings up a the Incognito browser. For starters, this does not hide/change IP all it does is erase cookies, sign up details (Not save your cookies)... Create your new hotmail/email account here. Make your new Reddit after obviously.
(The warmup phase). Also Incognito is your new home, this where you will go each time you visit reddit.
Ok quick recap, you made a new email + reddit account on a new IP address line. No fancy bs was needed...

3. The most important phase
: Account warmup: MAKING & Signing in your new reddit account in Incognito, following the steps such as picking your 3 sub-reddits to join bla bla. Pick completely separate ones from the ones that you got banned from. Browse for a minute or two everyday for AT LEAST 10 days.
Why???
New Reddit algorithm that people call the ''account warm up''. If you just join the same sub and start making massive waves off comment for the karma, you will get sussed out fast, thus banned.

ALSO it's a good way to see if our account has been banned automatically in that time period is to not do anything with the account but check up on it everyday within the first 2 weeks... Copy and paste your new username reddit in the default browser when your logged out to see if your account has been banned from a 3rd Point of view.

If it hasn't, you did the first 3 steps correctly and you are literally 80% near the finish line. THE HARDEST PART in the previous steps was patience, literally...
On
the 11 days, You are free to like a post or two, like a comment, and even post a comment, make it short and sweet, no long paragraphs, and Certainly DO NOT create a post.
Do this for for a few days, okay so total days since your new account creation has been 15 days. You still haven't been banned. At this stage I uploaded a custom profile picture to make my account seem more ''serious'' and not a bot alt account.

But you are NOT out of the warmup Just yet, but you can vamp up your activity.

After you have around 10 comments made, you are free to join main subreddit (Caveat down below) to simply browse, like and drop a comment or two.

The caveat is that some mods are darn good at telling is someone is on an alt IF you are on niche subreddits and use the same lingo as you did you other accounts that got banned. So be someone that is a bit clueless perhaps, change your ways you interact basically.

And there you have it, roughly 2/3 weeks you have made a new reddit account on a new (Refreshed) IP from your router. You have made a new email/reddit acc in Incognito mod since Reddit tracks your Cookies to!!!
You managed to warm up your new reddit account that please the algorithm that doesn't flag your new account as a potential alt which THEY WILL LOOK INTO to see if it's from a banned previous user.
You beat the system and can post/comment as much as you used to after that 2/3 week grace period.

So let's summarise:
1. Check if your IP has changed by default from the Router and internet service (Normally every 7 days). Static IPs are a thing of the past.
2 Use incognito to make a new email/reddit account and save those details since it doesnt save on Incognito.
3. 'Warm-up' your account and bypassing the new Reddit Algo by acting like a shy new redditor. No posts/comments/likes for at least 10-14 days. Where then you can comment once in a while.
after the 2 weeks has passed you are free to comment and make new posts as your heart desires...

I use to just keep a spare dial up internet account ( yes 56k ) and an old laptop with a fingerprint adjustor on it ( fingerprint of browser and OS, etc ) for doing this.

Yes I also made new email accounts too.

If doing this for an ad account, a lot of banks have "employee" cards but that is not enough, you need the bank that will alter the address of the employee card while still mailing to you ( at your address ) the physical card.

Have fun
