Nice article here http://www.adngin.com/blog/adsense-...ccessfully-using-7-psychological-phenomenons/

Not sure if it is just me but that website is terribly broken, not to mention the annoying call to action that pops up (Little bit ironic there).

Personally when it comes to combating ad blockers, I make sure my advertisements don't get blocked. Simple as that. I've noticed that certain image names will get auto-blocked so keeping that generic as possible while avoiding ad-like names is a must.

Now I know some will use AdSense or something like that which gets blocked by default. My site at this moment has none of its ads blocked. Just did some tweaking on the file names and made the ads useful more than anything worked out well.

Another thing to note is integrating the ads within the content itself. The visitors will be looking there anyway.

Also interesting to note is, you can often use data URIs to defeat some of the popular blockers out there. AdBlock Plus, for example, has been particularly resistant in incorporating data URI blocking by default, due to other potential usability issues. So one thing worth considering, depending on how your ads get served and the networks you're using, would be to setup some logic in your code to implement data URIs automatically.

I noticed Yahoo is taking this shit to the next level and blocking access to email if you have adBlockers on.
Fucking nazis..

Yep that's true, they don't give a shit.

Interesting group is 60+, they don't use adblockers that much, they are up to some nicely paid services/products and while younger population is shrinking 60+ group is getting bigger (of course this is happening all over the world).

BTW, yes that website from first post is broken.

I pretty much installed AdBlock because of YouTube ads.

Nothing kills the YouTube experience more than a pre-roll ad.

I really don't give a shit about banner ads, etc. I don't mind them. But I bet a lot of people installed Adblockers just because of YouTube.

I'm close to blocking them on my phone. The desperation to monetize mobile is just turning good sites into obnoxious ones.

Consumers are too cheap to subscribe/donate. Not much loyalty..
Publishers have to in return run ads to make a profit somehow.
Consumers block those ads.
Publishers now have to over fucking load their sites with ads just to make up for the loss.

Now we're back to paywalls, which means subscribe/donate/pay for access.
What are you going to block now? You've been blocked..

It's a shitty cycle.
