Whether its a guest post, niche edit, profile page, or whatever else...if a particular page has a noindex tag on it, but has a dofollow link to my website on it...

G wont index the page, but can/will still crawl it? So is there still value in the link or should I blacklist the resource and move on?

And yes, I feel stupid asking this.

I would treat that as a link that still passes value but not with the same value as one that is indexed and gets traffic. I wouldn't be seeking that kind of link out but also wouldn't disavow it.

I back this answer and can expand upon it.

If it is no-index, it can still send GoogleBot your way for crawling and indexation. So if Googlebot visits your site once a month, getting this link can increase its visits and how quickly your new posts are updated.

It however wont be used in the pagerank calculation and won't increase your site's ranking.

So yeah, not a goal but if you get one, keep it.

I was of the opinion in the past that noindexed pages still passed rank juice. They're certainly crawled. I feel like at one point in time someone from Google said outright that they only consider the link graph for indexed pages.

And whether or not that's true, they're most certainly trying to become protective of their index like Bing has always done, using links (and content quality, too) as validation of whether they should index a page.

They only want to index what they / the internet at large places value in. It would stand to reason that they only value what they index, too. All other calculations are done on the index alone. In the past, when page rank was the sole factor that separated Google from other search engines, they'd index and calculate on anything they could find. I'd say that ship has sailed and they have so many more variables in place now.

I wouldn't pay for the link. I wouldn't turn it down for free. But I also wouldn't spend any exorbitant amount of time on it or even hunt for those opportunities. I'd just move to the next.
