Yes, that's how you install a meta description, but you may want to use some kind of conditional statement that essentially says "if its the homepage, then use this description, otherwise don't" or you'll end up telling Google that every single page has the same description.

Meta descriptions matter very little for ranking but a LOT for getting people viewing the serps to actually click over to your site. That's your 2nd best way of getting their attention, besides your title.

Meta keywords... eh. It was one of the earliest and most easily exploitable SEO things, and I think it basically got discounted in any algorithms. However, now that everyone thinks that, they could be important again enough to make some miniscule impact (that could add on top of all of your other signals you're sending). Don't stuff a ton of keywords in there and it's probably fine and helpful.

Great! I'm relieved now. Thanks, @Ryuzaki! I was worried about that meta description overwriting the posts metas. But that will only happen to those that are not optimised, just yet. I'll optimise some recent posts and it will be sweet.

Thanks again, appreciate it

Reddit comments are mean as fuck, as usual, therefore I turn of inbox notifications. Fuck that.

LOL, Redditors:

If you can survive Reddit you'll be able to run circles around some blog comments, forums, and other places that don't get that nasty - reason for training at Reddit.

Not srs. I just ran across this gif and have been waiting for you to update so I could use it.

Nothing really interesting or impressive here.

Looks like a win to me. You're also going to see that continue to feed your site for a while. The one I dropped 12 days ago is still bringing me about 100-150 visitors a day.

Looks like Reddit icon represents an approximate amount of upvotes a post got instead of how many times the article got shared? Dunno. Reddit comments are mean as fuck, as usual, therefore I turn of inbox notifications. Fuck that.
That's how it works with my Reddit icon.
What social sharing plugin are you using? I like the way that looks.

@Jarred haha that gif made my laugh, fits here perfectly.

The plugin is Monarch by Elegant Themes. Really good looking, but is somewhat limited in functionality if you want to exclude it from some pages. It just does not let you exclude pages/posts by URLs. Other than that, it has fly-ins, pop ups, and social buttons all over the page with some good animations.

However, this one was my choice intially. Check it out too: Ultimate Social Deux

I'll probably delete the post prior to my next traffic leaking attempt, so the account does no look suspicious with previous links to the same website.

Do you have multiple accounts? That's what I did and I'll make posts to sites I don't own just so that my post history looks less suspect.

I do. I tried doing it, but all my attempts were a failure. Only once did I get it to do well, and ever since then I'm using this one successful account. I heard that post from accounts that have positive link and comment karma stick better.

Assignments update:
[X] Assignment #1: Write a self.reddit that generates 1K visitors to your site.
[X] Assignment #2: Get 100 visitors from a blog post comment.

This is was an attempt to leak to one of my reviews for an accessory. Pretty lame, but I'm trying other websites to comment on and leak traffic.

[ ] Assignment #3: get 1000 visitors from a forum traffic leak

I've already gotten a couple of more notices of trying to promote my website on forums, but no bans so far. I have not hit 1k visitors from a forum traffic leak yet.

Hey badya it seems like you are doing quite fine with these traffic leaks. Noticeable progress since the start of the thread in terms of mindset and how are your getting traffic almost at will.

Now, the traffic is one thing, but what about the revenue you have made through these 1000+ visitor days? I think it is a good approach to have a other traffic sources too besides the google, but I have yet to see someone actually make a good money out from them.

Besides that, what are you using for monetizing? I read the amazon affiliate and collecting e-mails at the start of the thread, but are you using ads too?

Looking to diversify my traffic sources too.

Right now our assignments are to focus on traffic. Yes, we want it to convert but one step at a time. Learning to match up offers to traffic sources is another skill that we will all have to improve on.

Thanks, @blackwar85!
February has been the most successful month for me so far, with 12,000+ visitors and 14,000+ pageviews, and 1,100 visits/1,500 pageviews from Google. Google is now sending 10-15 people stable everyday to my website and the numbers are growing, and I notice it sends to the pages that I tried optimizing using Yoast SEO plugin. Simple on-page stuff, nothing more. Traffic leaks that I have done up to this point bring in 50-70 people everyday to various pages. Traffic leaks definitely will diversify your traffic sources and will improve your rankings, for sure, if you take care of all things involved.

Now, the traffic is one thing, but what about the revenue you have made through these 1000+ visitor days?
My only profitable monetisation method has been Adsense so far, generating $14. However, about 9,000 visits/11,000 pageviews were excluded, because there were no ads running. Otherwise, I could have well made about 20-25 bucks in total.

I read the amazon affiliate and collecting e-mails at the start of the thread, but are you using ads too?
Besides that, what are you using for monetizing?
  • Adsense - since its the easiest you get paid per 1,000 impressions.
  • Amazon Associates (total of 100 clicks on my affiliate links, but no conversions yet)
  • Kixer (Installed yesterday, so $0 too)

Money will come later, when there is enough content and large enough of the audience that trusts my brand.

I might know a couple on site tricks. Yoast used to make it real easy to over optimize. It may have gotten better. But if you're unsure at all I'd be happy to help. PM me anytime.

Don't have much to say about this, apart from this one bringing the most amount of visits/pageviews:
gR7ufMe.jpg

Current February count:
  • 18535 visits, 16677 unique visitors
  • 21552 pageviews, 19613 unique pageviews
One thing to note, don't use anything adult related, even mildly, otherwise your adsense ads will not be showing anything. I had only mentioned PornHub a few times, no NSFW content at all, and those 7200 potential adsense views were gone :( Lesson learned.

Now of to trolling forums and getting that last assignment done.

Just a quick update.
Looks like I jumped the gun with recent traffic leaks numbers.

They are still coming in, 1000s a day, and so far I have 14k from 28th of Feb till 2nd of March. Will post final numbers when things die down a bit (if they will )

I can't describe how freaking excited I am right now.
I know this is nothing for most of the pros here, but damn this feels great:

That is my first amazon sale. Now I know this is definitely possible.
I want to say special thanks to @CCarter, @emp and @Calamari for help, for adopting me as a n00b and making me better and teaching me things that can make money. <3
Since reddit are mostly poor students or marketers, trying to make them buy something is hard. So I decided to copy what the big guys are doing and installed "Recommended For You" articles (YARPP) as ads and that also made about $1.5 :D
Adsense is totaling up to almost $20 now.

Apart from that, here are some stats.
Finalized February stats:
0DWk7k3.jpg

March stats so far:
eEKllcg.jpg

Nevermind average visit duration, big chunk of visits came from StumbleUpon, and those guys spend like 4 secs on a page and bounce. Bastards.

Thanks to @Calamari and @emp, I have a plan that will take my traffic leaking a step further in regards to generating revenue.

This is just the beginning. There's a lot more where that came from. Hell of a job!

Hm.. Just wondering how much traffic do you need to be making $2,000 per month with amazon and adsense, and other revenue generating methods? Seems like a lot...

That really depends on the source, the quality, and the intentions of your visitors (and your page's ability to satisfy those intentions) so there isn't a one-size-fits-all answer.

In the case of amazon, that is highly dependable of the product. If you get somebody to buy a sailboat for 100000 then 7% are nice 7000.

Furthermore, I really think that a lot of this comes down to your demographic. For example, teens/students do not have much money and they won`t buy expensive stuff online.

BR!

I know "it depends" is a shitty answer. But once you get more targeted traffic that has buying intentions, you'll probably see that it's a lot less than you think.

My Top 3 Biggest Problems

1. Instant Gratification
I have realized this long ago. I look for returns when I don't input much work in. I never really put 100% into this like I should, and expect money in return. It doesn't work that way, as it seems. And that siphons me to my next problem.

2. Doubt
When I see no return, I question whether this is the right thing to do. Is this what I really want? Is this going to make me financially secure and independent? These are the questions that creep into my mind, killing my motivation to work.

3. Lack of Motivation and Focus
When I am productive and do work, it is something I don't need to work on at that moment. Like redesigning the site, because I feel it doesn't look good or improving speed, or trying different tracking software or trying to modify some code etc. This stuff is not gonna make me money, content is and I can't bring myself to produce it. I keep looking for easy ways to tackle this problem, but the only solution is to fucking work. That's it.

@CCarter:
#1 Do you really want this? Yes!
#2 Are you willing to put in 100% towards this without excuses? Yes, yes I am.

@builttodominate and I decided to undertake a challenge and produce an absolute minimum of 1 article per day, no matter what. No excuses.

After reading Tavin's $1mil flip thread it became clear to me that the social presence of the brand is the vital part of success. Therefore, I am now taking care of my main social channels. Twitter is first. Facebook is second, then maybe Google+, however it does not seem to be very active/popular. Pinterest and Tumblr pages are in development. I have no idea how to manage them all and keep active, but I will try.

So far, I get between 150-200 unique visits from different places to different pages without any work done at all, 20-25 of which are from Google, daily. Occasionally brings in an Amazon conversion.

Adsense earnings have stabilized and do not fluctuate as much, although make next to nothing. However today was a good day and got 4 clicks and $1.3.
Amazon earnings are doing better than Adsense, but I need to push harder.

Content is being published everyday. Mostly 2 articles per day, then get submitted/marketed to all the possible places I have discovered as my traffic leaking platforms, which result in good social shares and some backlinks. Although those seem a bit dodgy.

I am now looking for an affiliate network that is closely related to technology/consumer electronics niche. If anyone knows good one, can recommend or even refer I would be thankful. Tried Above All Offers, but they don't seem to have anything tech related, unfortunately :(

I have just discovered a very, very good traffic leaking platform, which appears to have no moderation. Has crazy commenting activity and is basically the #1 goto place for tech news. I am excited to give it a go and see how it performs.

This is a guess really, but I'd bet Commission Junction has something for you. They deal more in physical products than digital or leads. They end up having connections to most of the big chain stores that you'd recognize too (trust factor for your buyers, better conversions, etc).

What do you think about badya making tech accessories? I suggested that to him but I dont have much experience
