Display ads - death of 3rd party cookie

Looks like Google decided to shelf the death of 3rd party cookies altogether. I don't have the time or energy right at my bed time to parse all this nonsense, but it appears that they tested removing 3rd party cookies with and without enabling the privacy sandbox and there was no meaningful difference in the massive (~20%+) loss in revenue for publishers, advertisers, and Google, regardless if they used their new stupid solution or not. The SERoundtable link in this post has more details. Good news, finally. Google's starting to learn they can't just force stupid decisions on everyone any more.
