Ok, so I've stayed out because I don't feel this is the place to get into "beefs", but I feel like I have a responsibility to those on here, who actually think this is "just flu".
Please listen to the warnings of Europeans.
It's a serious fucking disease that will kill you.
The numbers are pretty definite now. Younger people below 50 are the main groups in intensive care. They just don't die.
However, try to understand what that means. It means, if you catch a bad case, if you're a smoker, if you're overweight, if you're diabetic, if you have high blood pressure. You risk ending up in ICU and you risk dying if you don't get that care.
There are loads of young people on respirators. They survive, the old die, but do you want to spend 7 days in an induced coma while a machine breaths for you? Do you want to gamble that the US has enough respirators? I heard they said in news that you have 1400 in the entire country. That's less than needed for my country of less than 10 million. Without a respirator, the death rate skyrockets. 10% or more.
Do you think the flu is the reason all European countries are now shut down completely. This hasn't happened since WW2. Everything is shut down.
Please do the right thing. Practice social isolation. If you can, go to a cabin, go to the farm. This is serious and it's going to get real bad. I'm just waiting here. We're 2 weeks outside the Italian bloodbath. My only regret is not heading for the hills, now it's too late.
